FINAL EDITION… FINAL EDITION… FINAL EDITION…
NUTMEG HIT'N ROLL BULLETIN
April 12, 2010
The season is sadly coming to a close, but there’s a weekend of fun in store with The Blarney Stone starting this Thursday April 15th followed by the Pull the Plug Party on Sunday April 18th. Wow, what a great ending to a very busy curling season at Nutmeg!
Don’t forget, there are two more gatherings on our calendar with the Women’s Dinner (open to all Nutmeg Women Curlers) Wednesday, April 28th and the Awards Ceremony & Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 22nd. Both events will take place at Nutmeg Curling Club.
ATTENTION GREENHORNS: The instructors are completing our spring Greenhorn sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Greenhorn program will be continued in October with two additional refresher sessions. 43 Greenhorns (50% of the Greenhorns) have signed up to compete in the Blarney Stone and others are on the sub list. Good curling to all!
Notice: The Blarney Stone draw schedule is now posted. Look at www.nutmegcurling.com on the “member home” page or under the 'bonspiels' menu item. Each Skip has been notified of their team’s roster and will be contacting players directly in the next day or two to let you know your line up. Any questions should be directed to Jim O’Boyle, Chair at jp12896@aol.com.
Sunday April 18th is the Pull the Plug Party at Nutmeg. If you’ve never witnessed A Pull the Plug Celebration before, you should come down just to see how our nutty group of curlers celebrates the end of our ice.
Congratulations to the Nutmeg curlers for the exciting come-from-behind win over Ardsley at the Ardsley-Nutmeg Friendly. Nutmeg retained the Nutty Duck trophy with an overall score of 55 to 49.
HELPERS NEEDED: Ice meltdown/clean up will take place on Wednesday April 21st at 7:30pm and Saturday April 24th at 1pm. If you can help please wear waterproof boots and clothes that can get 'painted'. The ice paint will wash out from clothes. If you have a large floor squeegee please bring that as well. Saturday will include washing down the floor so lots of help is needed. These dates and times are based on the compressor going off on Sunday April 18th. Contact Jeff at jeff_hannon@juno.com.
SOUGHT AFTER SILENT AUCTION ITEMS: Every year at the year end meeting (scheduled for May 22nd) the organizers gather a fantastic collection of donated prizes and gift items to be put into a silent auction as a fundraiser to benefit Nutmeg Curling Club. However, the fun can ONLY begin with you and your help in donating an item and of course, purchasing one or more on May 22nd. Think out of the box, be creative…BUT if you are stuck for an idea, here are some donation ideas that have been highly successful. Please contact Elly Bockley by May 15th about your donation: ebockley@optonline.net. THANK YOU.
